In-App Messaging

In-App messages are clickable notifications that can be displayed to the identified as well as anonymous visitors, while they are active in the app.

  • Define: This section is meant for the basic details of the in-app message content.
  • Design: The layout, appearance, and design can be defined here. You can select from the following layouts
    1. Header: message displayed in header section of the app page.
    2. Footer: displayed in the footer section of the app page.
    3. Interstitial: full-screen message covering the interface of the app.
    4. Half-interstitial: half-screen message on the interface of the app.
  • Properties: Define the text content of the message and the action buttons. You can set the font style, font size, text colour, etc.
  • Call-to-action: You can select from six different call-to-actions. You can deep link with a page in the app, patch a call, redirect to a website, send email or SMS, or even share the content through whatsapp.
  • Rules: These rules define the conditions to select the contacts to whom the message should be shown. Based on the different activities of the contact on the web, app, browser push notifications, or any other message sent, his/her website behaviour, etc.
  • Frequency: You can specify the number of times and the time schedule when the message should be shown to the selected contacts. You can choose the days of the week and the time of the day when the message should be displayed.

To create an In-App Message

  • Log in to Smartech and go to Campaigns > On-site Engagement >In-App Message.
  • Click Create In-app Message.
  • In the Define section, enter the details in the respective fields.
  • Click Save and Continue
  • In the Design section, do the following:
    a. Select the layout from the left pane.
    b. To enter the content, select the content box in the widget, and provide the content in the box in the right pane.
    c. Select the font style, size, alignment, etc. from the respective drop-downs.
    d. To choose the call-to-action, select the action button in the layout. The drop-down appears, from which you can select the call-to-action. You can choose from the following:
    e. Click Save & Continue.
    f. In the Rules section, define the conditions based on which the recipient contacts will be selected.
    g. Click Save and Continue.
    h. In the Frequency section, you need to specify the days of the week, and the time of the day when you want to show the message to the contacts.
    i. If you wish to save the message as draft, click Save & Continue. The message will get saved and will appear in the dashboard. If you wish to publish the message now, click Preview & Publish. You can see the preview, make edits if required, and publish the message.

Control Group in In-App Message

The control group is defined as the group in an experiment or study that does not receive communication by the marketer and is then used as a benchmark to measure how the other tested subjects do.

Under "Define" section, now user can define a control group. User can define the percentage of control group who shall not receive (or see) the In-App message.

Once the control group in-app message campaign is live the report will be available on channel dashboard. Control group enabled messages are shown with a specific symbol.

The above example shows that the control group is executed at 50% contacts.

There is an option to change the date range. So given date range, it shows the number of conversion and conversion rate with total sessions for both control group contacts and contacts to whom in-app messages are shown.
